1 Timothy 3 Job Description

This is put together by Lon Alderman of Acorn Ministries. I was involved with the group of camp workers that put this description together.

1 Timothy 3 – “Job Description”
Verse 2-3 Job applicant must pass continuous background check by being a
person of integrity and respectability. Housing benefits provided for
only one spouse with a desire to share their home with others.
Necessary skills include teaching abilities, with fruits of the Spirit
exhibited and no vices. Must raise your own support.
Verse 4-5 To show qualification applicants must be able to demonstrate
dignified control of his home as a protector and supporter of the
entire family, as evidenced by willingly obedient children.
Verse 6 Spiritual experience and maturity is necessary for successful
completion of the position along with a humility developed by long
practice.
Verse 7 Through reference and background checks must have positive
community impact showing a commitment to biblical leadership
Verse 8-9 This person should be respectable by being honest in speech,
staying sober, avoiding dishonest gain, and believing what they
teach
Verse 10 The person should be experienced in God’s righteousness and will
be found to be faultless and innocent to the accusations of the
world.
Verse 11 Live in a manner worthy of the calling given to you. Make sure no
malice or slander comes from you mouth (i.e., no gossip, tearing
others down, etc.). Be a trustworthy and faithful person (i.e., finish
what you start, keep deadlines, be on-time, keep your word).
Control the manner in which you express your emotions (i.e.,
temperate, even keeled, etc.).
Verse 12 Marriage – top priority – dedicated to one and only one wife. A
great marriage will help direct children to function with responsibility
and duty making the household function well
